Hot Rod Eliminator Class

HOT ROD ELIMINATOR

    Class Rules

    HOT ROD ELIMINATOR

    Reserved for 50 year and older (1974 and older in 2024) vehicles.

    Competition structure will be conducted in an E.T. dial-your-own format, with dial-in limited from 8.50

    minimum to 13.99 seconds maximum.


    REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS 

    ENGINE

    One internal-combustion automotive-type engine permitted. Must meet the 50 year and older intent (i.e. can be a

    modern version of an engine that was available 50 years ago; no Coyote or LS).


    FUEL

    Nitromethane prohibited. Nitrous oxide prohibited.


    THROTTLE

    Throttle control must be manually operated by driver’s foot, incorporating a positive- action return system.


    SUPERCHARGER

    Permitted on gasoline-, racing-gasoline-, and alcohol-burning cars.  Hat/scoop must be nostalgic in appearance.


    FRAME

    Majority (51% or greater) of frame must be factory.  No complete tube chassis frames.


    BODY

    Fiberglass duplicate parts permitted. Fenders may be trimmed for tire clearance.


    HOOD

    Optional. Carburetors must be covered by flash shield or scoop. Hood scoop permitted.


    WINDSHIELD, WINDOWS

    Mandatory on stock-bodied vehicles and free from cracks. May be replaced with shatterproof material. OEM windshield may not be cut for scoops, carb, etc.


    DELAY BOX/DEVICES

    Prohibited. Electronic devices include but are not limited to throttle stops, delay boxes, cross-over boxes, rpm or timer shifters, and rpm or pressure-activated switches.


    IGNITION

    Timed ignition-interruption devices (stutter boxes) prohibited. Starting-line and/or “high- side” two-step or rev limiters permitted. Two-steps, rev limiters, or any other rpm-limiting devices, legal unto themselves but altered or

    installed so as to function as a down track rpm controller, prohibited.


    INSTRUMENTS

    One tachometer allowed. No wiring (other than the two-step/launch-control wire that splices into the transbrake or line-loc control wire) shall be connected.


    COMPUTER

    Prohibited.


    DATA RECORDER

    Data recorders permitted.


    TOW VEHICLES

     Prohibited. Must be able to get to/from staging lanes under own power.
